
Rodney T. Morton, MTh., MDiv.
RODNEY TODD MORTON was born in historic Selma, Alabama and grew up in Maplesville, Alabama. He currently serves as the Senior Pastor of The Central Baptist Church of Baltimore City, Maryland. His ongoing theme for the church, "Moving forward together" (Philippians 3:12-16), is having an explosive effect, igniting believers to want to do more for humanity for the cause of Christ.
Pastor Morton believes in the power of prayer and relies on the guidance of the Holy Spirit to deliver God's Word. He embraces technology to illustrate his teachings with real-life application. Through venues such as training workshops, conferences, and Bible study, Pastor Morton is committed to winning souls for Christ so that marriages are restored, families are healed, and the next generation begins to rise!
Pastor Morton has been privileged to pastor the Mt. Olive #2 Baptist Church in Sardis, Alabama, where he served for 15 years. In May 2002 Pastor Morton accepted the call to pastor the Historic Tabernacle Baptist Church in Selma, Alabama, where he served for 10 years. In early 2012, sensing a new call of God on his life, Pastor Morton accepted the senior pastorate of The Central Baptist Church of Baltimore City, Maryland. His leadership has been far-reaching and transformative in an inner-city culture. The church has experienced tremendous growth spiritually, physically, and numerically.

Pastor Morton earned his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in Bible and Pastoral Ministry from Selma University (Selma, Alabama), Master of Theology degree from New Orleans Theological Seminary (New Orleans, Louisiana), Master of Divinity degree from New Orleans Theological Seminary (New Orleans, Louisiana), and has studied Integrated Leadership at Southern Theological Seminary (Louisville, Kentucky). Pastor Morton holds an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from both the Determined Biblical Theological Institute (Baltimore, Maryland) and the Tennessee School of Religion (Memphis, Tennessee).
Pastor Morton is a graduate of Leadership of Selma/Dallas County and a graduate of Pastoral Education, College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy, Frederick, Maryland. He is certified in Community Buildings Strategies by the University of Baltimore and a certified coach, teacher, and speaker with the John Maxwell Group.
Pastor Morton also serves as a board member of the United Baptist Missionary Convention of the State of Maryland, Inc., the Mission Committee, St. Agnes Hospital, and the Dr. Martin Luther King Commission of Howard County, Maryland. He is a past board member of the National Bridge Crossing Jubilee Board of Directors.
Pastor Morton has distinguished himself as a recipient of numerous awards, commendations, tributes, honors, and merits, including the “Martin Luther King Courage Award,” for his servant leadership and stand on social justice for all, and the “In the Spirit Award” for his work in community building.
Pastor Morton resides in Laurel, Maryland with his wife Lady Rhonda Nix Morton and their son, Rylan Alexander.
